Resources and Tools for Addressing Sexual Health with Patients
According to Association Reproductive Health Professional and Healthy Women, Women’s sexual health is the least regularly discussed health topic for about half of clinicians. A clinician may feel time is too limited during the appointment to start an effective conversation with their patients, or perhaps they are concerned that they do not have the training or education to address the sexual health concerns patients have. Regardless of the reason, it is important to help equip clinicians with the resources and tools needed to support clinicians in raising the topic of sexual health so they can better serve their patients.
The below educational resources and tools were selected from trusted healthcare professional organizations focused on women’s and sexual health.

NPWH/ISSWSH Sexual Health Course
NPWH and the International Society for the Study of Sexual Health (ISSWSH) collaborated on a professional education course to provide nurse practitioners with up-to-date evidence and expert consensus on female sexual medicine, evaluation, and therapeutic strategies. The course seeks to prepare nurse practitioners to initiate sensitive discussions with patients about female sexual dysfunction (FSD), and increase confidence in their ability to evaluate, diagnose, and manage FSD.
Well Woman Visit Mobile App
NPWH has a free mobile app designed for clinicians and intended to be a helpful tool for the well-woman visit. With a special focus on STD screening, the app compiles the most commonly used clinical guidelines from multiple sources (ACOG, USPSTF, CDC, NOF, ACIP, ASCCP) into one tool.
NPWH offers several E-Learning courses related to women’s health and sexual health conditions to support health professional education.
